Hi, hopefully no problem if I write in English. I have a Volvo S60 2002 2.4 model and I would like some help with it. I don't know much about cars or engines but I like the power they have. In this case is the power the issue. Not always, intermittent. Sometimes has a lot of power and sometimes not at all. Any help will be appreciated, thanks in advance.

Can you tell a little bit more about your car?
Is it diesel or petrol engine. If it is petrol has it turbo or not?

Have you check/scan car failure diagnostic codes?

It's petrol, no turbo. It has been to yearly service a month ago but they didn't mention nothing about the engine. I have an OBD2 Bluetooth device which works with android app torque the pro version, scan came out clean. Sometimes it depends on the start, if it goes good it works well until I turn off the engine. If I turn on again it might work well or not. Thanks

How many kilometers on the car? I would almost recommend that you take your car to a mechanic/shop so that they could read the codes with a proper OBD-reader. Without any codes it could pretty much be everything between heaven and the earth.

How about service, for example when is the last time spark plugs were replaced or the fuel filter? Lets start with the basics.

Good question. 320000 km. It has been replaced recently timing belt, air conditioner compressor, oil and some filters that comes with yearly service. I bought the car about 3 months ago. In service book there are stamps of yearly service every year but don't mention what has been done.

Are the stamps in the service book from Volvo dealers or just a all-brands workshop? Because if it is a all-brands workshop, they could be lacking the knowledge of when the specified parts needs to be replaced. For example spark plugs change interval is 60 000 km, and the fuel filter is 160 000 km's. The spark plugs are the easiest to check.

And could you be more specific about the "lacking power" problem, when does this usually happend, what the engine does at that point when the problem occurs and does it throw somekind of a warning light in the istrumentcluster?

If i'd be you, i would drive to the nearest Volvo dealer and check for any error codes, there has to be something in the memory that the cheaper OBD-readers cant find. (Just because there is so much to cover with so little info)

Fuelpump relay is also a common problem with these older Volvos.

Thanks for the help, really appreciate it. I think I'll take it for a scan and hopefully they find the issue. Spark plugs and petrol filter are next on the line. Thanks again
